You are probably getting a dog soon or already have gotten one, so congratulations on becoming a new pet parent! – that is one of the best things that can happen to you in your life so hurray for that. Getting a pet is equivalent to having a child of your own, and what is the one thing that you do have to do when you get a child? – yeah, you have to name them! So currently you have to come up with a dog name. Sometimes, you are sure what you want to call your baby, but other times, you just want a little help to guide you through the process. Naming a pet is truly one of the most careful yet cute processes that you go through in your life.
So, PawSpace is here to give you a few dog name suggestions that you might want to consider while naming your pet, oh and we also want to suggest a few names to you because who does not want to be a part of that beautiful process of naming your dog?
What should you make sure before you name your dog?
Here’s the thing, dogs are quite intelligent as a species – they can understand a lot of things and can constantly empathize with your moods and emotions, but you should make it a little easier for them when it comes to naming
- Number of syllables – Ideally, try sticking to names that are of maximum two syllables. You can always name your dog longer names and make a shorter pet name to call them. Either way, short names will be easier for your dog to comprehend and also easier for you to call.
- Easy to remember – Okay, this might sound obvious but really, try naming them something that is easy for everyone to remember (including your doggo) and this will make everything easier in the long run. Try naming them names that have hard consonants in them.
- Not embarrassing – It’s always fun to do spontaneous things in your life – like naming your dog something quirky, but, can you shout your dog’s name across the corridor in your apartment? Or in the park? Or in your friend’s place? – if yes, then perfect. If not, consider trying to name them something less embarrassing so you can always tell your dog’s actual name to everybody!
- What does it sound like? – Sometimes, you might end up naming your dog something that sounds like command; this might confuse your dog and they may not understand if you are calling them or asking them to do something. Also, you might have to make sure that your dog’s name does not sound like the name of another member of your family (or another one of your pets), this might confuse them every time you refer to their name or the other person’s name and ultimately hinder them from responding properly, so this is another thing you have to keep in mind.
So what can you actually name them?
