5 tips you should know if you are trying to be in home dog trainer

Have an adorable doggo at home that needs a little discipline in their life? You have got us for that – PawSpace has the best dog trainers easily available with just a click

When it comes to training, puppies as young as 6 weeks old can be trained. However, young puppies can be taught only very basic commands and behavioral aspects. The advantage of training your dogs young is that they would not have any already learned behaviors and therefore can be moulded easily. Although older dogs might have learned behaviors, they are more competent and hence can pick up the meaning of the commands quickly.

Training is an elaborate process which requires the assistance of trainers but some of it should also be slightly continued at home, even after professional certified dog trainers do their magic. When your dog is going to training, you cannot force commands on them immediately and will have to be patient with their learning and understanding process. Here are some tips you can follow as an amateur in home dog trainer, to make sure that your dog gets to be the most adorable being that it is

    1. No punishments – Regardless of what your puppy/dog does, if you want to be the best dog trainer for them, make sure you are never punishing them negatively for it. Do not use physical abuse as a way to teach them manners – this will only make them fear you and slowly resent you as opposed to wanting to obey you. Instead, when you see a behavior that needs to be corrected, simply do not acknowledge it, or say “no” and actively show them that it is not okay.

    1. Positive reinforcements – This is the best way to make sure that your dog understands what you want to tell them and remembers to do them later. Whenever they behave the way you want them to, give them a pat on the back or treat to convey that. While training them for specific commands, every time they follow the command, give them a treat and verbally express your appreciation (example, “good boy!”)

    1. Show the meaning of words – Pets are not born with understanding of human language, so although words like “No” and “Yes” might seem extremely simple for us to understand, you need to show your dog what “No” and “Yes” mean. Couple your words with actions or show them the object that you mean. You will have to stay patient and teach them the words for days/weeks before they finally get the hang of it and know what it means

    1. Practicing commands – After the professional trainers teach your pets the basic commands, you need to practice them at home. For example, for the command “come” you can slowly train your dog by saying the word and patting the area near you. Always remember to reward them immediately with treats at the initial stages of training. Do not get annoyed at your dog for not immediately following your commands and be extremely patient with them.

  1. Mental stimulation and exercise – Dogs require consistent exercise for healthy living. They need to be walked or played with regularly to make sure they live a long and easy life. Playing games that stimulate them mentally also tires them out just as much, especially when it comes to puppies. Physical exercise and mental stimulation help increase their lifespan to the fullest, keeps them active, happy and reduces risk of obesity.

We know your adorable little friend makes you popular among your peers due to their cuteness so making sure they are well-behaved will definitely benefit you largely even when it comes to living with them.
